BSL firefighter released from hospital

Monday, April 21st, 2014

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Boiling Spring Lakes firefighter is doing well after suffering smoke inhalation during a fire last night in Winnabow.

BSL Fire Chief Chris Grace says when crews arrived they found two mobile homes engulfed in flames. About 20 minutes into the call firefighter John Johnson started feeling chest pains and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

"He did take in a little bit of smoke, though, so they wanted to run some more tests, but he's at home resting well," Grace said. "He's a 17-year veteran of the fire department, so he's a very good asset to us."

Ggrace says Johnson was in good spirits when he picked him up from the hospital this morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
