Wilmington, N.C. (WWAY) – An ad for a North Carolina Senate candidate is turning into a teachable moment.
In his most recent campaign ads, Michael Lee had one very important word spelled wrong.
The Lee campaign is calling it all a mistake, saying how the word ‘education’ ended up misspelled in their TV ads must have been an oversight.
Education, spelled ‘eduation’, is missing a ‘c’.
“Yeah,” Lee laughed, “the proof that we looked at had it correct. We made a tweak with the music and it came through and it was missing a letter.”
His campaign pulled the ad, replacing it with the word ‘education’ spelled correctly this time.
Lee joins a long line of misspelled words in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“In this instance,” he said, “it certainly didn’t come out on the final that was delivered from the production company.”
Lee has since fixed the ad and says his focus is back on the campaign.
“Education reform is something that we need in North Carolina,” said Lee, “we need to make sure that we’re paying our teachers well so that we can compete with other states and also being fair to our teachers and pay good teachers to stay.”
Lee says he plans on making education one of his top priorities if he makes it to the state Senate.
