Brunswick County Board of Education participates in a budget workshop

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Board of Education met Friday to participate in a budget workshop. Board Members discussed the proposed 2014-2015 budget and the top 5 capital project priorities.

This proposal will be presented to County Commissioners during a committee meeting next week.

School officials created a list of challenges the district faces when returning to a single bell schedule.

Board of Education members also began talks about potential reductions in anticipation of a budget shortfall. They presented a list of proposed budget cut ideas as they try to figure out which cuts are going to least likely affect classrooms.

Mayor Saffo: City could lose $1.7 million in privilege taxes

Airport Authority cancels meeting to discuss member’s ouster

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Airport Authority has canceled a special meeting slated for tonight. The authority was scheduled to talk about getting rid of one its members.

Notice of the meeting’s cancellation was given this morning without reason

YesterdayChairman Thomas Barber said the meeting was to decide whether to recommend removal of board member Al Roseman.

Barber would not elaborate on the concerns the authority has about Roseman other to say that there were concerns enough to warrant a meeting to discuss them.

Roseman has not yet returned a call for comment.
