Taking to the streets to remember the missing

Sunday, May 25th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — you could see the signs along Carolina Beach Rd. Some cars honking as they passed by Sunday afternoon.

They’re not spending the weekend at the beach, in fact they’re missing the holiday weekend with their loved ones… because their loved ones are missing.

Founder of the cue center for missing persons. Monica Caison has been focused on finding the missing… and supporting their families since 1994.

“These type of events give hope,” Caison said. “It also continues the support system for the family and encourages them to have strength in their weak times.”

Just ask Angie Warner… “Monica Caison is my hero. If it was not for her I don’t know where I’d be,” Warner said.

Back in 2009, Caison and the cue center finally answered some questions for Warner, finding her mother’s missing remains after seven years.

“Without this organization, families with missing loved ones would not know where to turn,” Warner said.

That’s why she continues to support and rally with dozens of other here still waiting for answers.

Debra Turbeville says not a day goes by she doesn’t think about her nephew Eric Franks, an NC native missing from Saginaw, Michigan since 2011.

“You think he’s dead, you know you’ll never find him, then the next day you get some hope,” Turbeville said.

And while no one expects it to happen, Turbeville says, “It doesn’t matter the age. Everybody is some body’s baby.”
