WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are searching for a man they say stole ten puppies from inside a Wilmington home before taking to Facebook to try selling the animals.
Wilmington Police say it happened early Sunday in the 100 block of Meares Street, where a woman said someone stole ten puppies from inside her home there. Officers say when she found a Facebook listing for puppies for sale, she made arrangements to meet the person to try buying her puppies back.
Police say when the woman spoke with the man who was selling the animals at the Wilmington Walmart, she noticed that they were still in the same bucket they were in when they were taken from her home. She was able to grab the puppies to take them back home with her, also taking a picture of the suspect, according to officers.
Wilmington Police have taken out warrants for the man, Michael Hines, 23, of Navassa. Police say he will be charged with both breaking and entering and larceny of a K-9.
