Camp Lejeune holding hurricane preparedness town hall meeting

CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (AP) — Camp Lejeune officials are encouraging military members, civilian employees and families to attend a town hall meeting about being prepared for hurricane season.

The meeting will be held Wednesday evening at the Russell Marine & Family Center Auditorium. Speakers include Brig. Gen. Robert Castellvi, John Cole of the National Weather Service, Doug Haas with the state Department of Public Safety and Michael Powell with the American Red Cross.

Topics include evacuation procedures and how to prepare your family, home and pets for a storm. Hurricane season began June 1 and ends Nov. 30.

Free child care is available at the Brewster Childcare Development Center. Parents are requested to reserve a space.
