Betsy Jordan staffers apologize for campaigning at protest

Friday, August 29th, 2014

WILMINTON, NC (WWAY) — There was a peaceful protest in Wilmington Thursday night in an effort to remember those killed after altercations with police. A group of people stood out at tonight’s event.

Though the protest was not political, some staffers from Betsy Jordan’s campaign showed up wearing ‘Jordan for NC House’ tank tops. The staffers left halfway through the rally and Betsy Jordan was not at the event herself.

Some at the protest felt this was in poor taste, so WWAY reached out to the Jordan campaign.

They said though they did support the rally’s cause, they didn’t understand the event and expected it to be more political in nature. They went on to apologize.

Betsy Jordan is a Democratic candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives.
