WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This week’s Teacher of the Week started working in the classroom as a volunteer in her 20s.
“As soon as I started volunteering in the classroom, I knew it was for me,” said Mary C. Williams Elementary teacher Carla Bromstead.
From the interaction she got with students as a translator, she says she knew this was her calling.
“I realized that I would be a good fit for them.”
Now, Mrs. Bromstead is the perfect for one student in particular.
“To me, she makes education seem fun,” said Nicholas Bloodworth.
Nicholas says he had a hard time in second grade but with Mrs. Bromstead in the front of the class, he enjoys going to school every day.
“Third grade is just the best grade I have done so far,” he said.
With interactive lessons and lots of hands on activities, there is always something going on in the classroom.
“We do work hard. We try to have some fun with it,” said Bromstead.
But what is the third grade teacher’s favorite part of the day?
“All of these faces. Just seeing them in the morning when I come in and all the hugs I get,” she said.
