Art unveiling for Riverfest

Friday, September 19th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Riverfest Executive Committee unveiled a brand new painting from this year’s featured artist David Hayes.

Hayes is a local painter who is known for his incredibly realistic and detailed scenes depicting the Cape Fear region.

His features piece shows the Henrietta and the Downtown Riverwalk. Hayes said he was excited to be chosen by Riverfest.

“It’s pretty exciting for me. I didn’t expect anything like this to be going on specifically for my work,” Hayes said. “But I really appreciate the festival asking me to be the featured artist. And I’m really thrilled.”

Riverfest will be October 3-5 in Downtown Wilmington.

The Home Depot estimates that a cyberattack earlier this year affected 56 million unique payment cards.

The Atlanta-based home improvement retailer said Thursday it has eliminated the malware behind the attacks that took place between April and September.

It said it has also completed a “major” payment security project that provides enhanced encryption of customers’ payment data in the company’s US stores.

Home Depot also is confirming its sales-growth estimates for the fiscal year and expects to earn $4.54 per share in fiscal 2014, up 2 cents from its prior guidance.
