Monday, September 29th, 2014

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Municipal Golf Course is set to reopen this week.

It has been closed for almost four months now for renovations. From doubling the green to restoring the bunkers, golf cart paths and the tee boxes, the $1.5 million renovation project on the course is complete.

Today they let the public take a peek at the final product. Golfer Larry Fried says it’s a different golf course.

“The greens in general are going to be more difficult,” Fried said. “They have more undulations. They are sort of raised. The bunkers have real sand in them for a change which is going to be interesting. Scores are going to go up in the beginning, but I think folks will get used to it. I mean it’s a great golf course.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony is Wednesday. The course will be open to the public on Thursday.
