WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In honor of National Disaster Preparedness Month, The Cape Fear Volunteer Center hosted a fair at the Independence Mall on Saturday.
They were joined by the Wilmington Fire Department, New Hanover Emergency Management, The National Weather Service, and Disaster One all which gave out information to the public to prepared them for any disaster that could happen.
Checklists, emergency contact information, and general expert advice were available and hopes to help people in the possible future.
Joan Woodcock, CFVC Social Work Intern said "It's important for people to come out here and get this information for the safety of their families. To know where you are going to meet if a disaster strikes, to know what kinds of stuff you should have on hand if a disaster strikes is very important."
This is an annual event and in case you missed it and would like more information you can head over to ReadyNC.org
