WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — Two people were jailed Saturday morning in connection with a running gunbattle Friday night on Dawson Street that spanned 11 blocks, according to police.

Wakeel Stewart, 19, is charged with discharging a firearm in city limits and Kolton Thompson, 25, is charged with resisting arrest, according to New Hanover County jail records.

Wilmington Police Department Lt. D. When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect vehicles were gone, but officers collected shell casings from Sixth to 17th streets, Lanier said.
