Resident finds man eating beans in basement

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington resident got quite a surprise early this morning, when they found a man eating beans in their home.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 200 block of Nun Street.

Wilmington Police spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay said the resident noticed the light was on in the basement. He opened the door and saw a man sitting on the floor eating a can of Hormel beans.

The suspect got away before police arrived. The resident described him as a black male with dark clothing and short hair.

Police said he entered through an unlocked door. There was nothing missing from the basement.
