Cape Fear Academy students donate bikes overseas

Friday, October 31st, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)- Do you have an old bike that you don’t use anymore?

How about donating that this Saturday to an organization called bikes for the world?

The organization delivers your old bike to a new owner overseas where it will be used to get someone to school, work, or health services.

The students at Cape Fear Academy are hoping to make a big donation that will not impact southeastern NC but worldwide.

Donating bikes to changes lives. That’s what the Beta club students are doing.

“This is all on our free time. this was voluntary,” student Jay Andrews says.

Time spent worth while.

Forrest Singletary said, “I’m very proud to be a part of something like this. I believe you should always help the less fortunate cause you know today you, tomorrow me, i’m definitely a strong believer of that. i just wish we could do a little more too.”

Although, what these students are doing is making a big difference.

The bikes that are donated are destined for Costa Rica which will help people to get to school, work, or the doctor.

The organization’s goal is 100,000 bikes and that is within reach.

The students are asking for from the cape fear community.

If you would like to make a donation, you can drop off your bike at Cape Fear Academy Saturday between 9 and 1 pm.
