Wilmington’s history helps health officials prepare against Ebola

Police: Teen with knife at Shallotte Lowe’s

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — The Shallotte Police Department was dispatched to the entrance to Lowes Home Improvement around 6:03 p.m. on Monday for a report of a subject with a knife.

When they arrived, they found a distraught 17-year old subject holding a knife to his throat. He was reported earlier in the day to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office as a missing person.

Shallotte officers cleared pedestrians from the scene while they negotiated with the subject. Officers rerouted traffic for both eastbound and westbound lanes of N.C. 130 by rerouting traffic at Bridgers Road and at the intersection of N.C. 130 and Main Street for about 40 minutes.

Officers were able to talk the teen into releasing his weapon and was transported for medical evaluation. No one was hurt.

MISSING: Detectives searching for missing BrunsCo teen

Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a missing teenage.Brianna Nichole Fryer, 17, was reported missing from Leland Monday night. She was last seen on Valentines Way Friday night, according to authorities.Brianna is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 115 pounds.
