Reenactment commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Fisher

Governor Pat McCrory paid a visit to the Port City Saturday morning for two reasons: to welcome home our troops and to commemorate the 150 anniversary of the battle of Ft. Fisher. One of the last battles of the civil war where the Union Army destroyed the confederates hope of victory.

Spruill leads Seahawks past Pride

Senior guard Addison Spruill capped a spectacular week with a game-high 23 points and backcourt mate Freddie Jackson shook off a late-game injury to power UNCW past Hofstra, 79-74, in a Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball matinee Saturday at the Mack Sports Complex.
