School systems gear up for more online student assessments

Former serviceman on board the USS Battleship NC returns

It has been over half a century since the start of World War II, but for the living crew members who were once on board the USS Battleship North Carolina they said it feels like just yesterday. On Sunday, Retired Lt. Colonel Duncan Jewell stepped foot back on the battleship for the first time in over a decade. One of the first things he said as he stepped on board was the battleship looked bigger than he remembered, but that was not the only memory that came flashing back.

2 N.C. men charged following investigation into sexual assault case

Josue Devillar of Raleigh and Joshua Obrien Horne of Nashville, N.C. picked up a female victim from her home in Cumberland County on April 7.The investigation showed that she requested that the two take her home when she learned they intended to take her to Raleigh. Instead, Delvillar and Horne drove to Raleigh and sexually assualted her.
