City and county leaders consider common incentive policy

Incentives used to attract businesses to New Hanover County are flexible by design but don’t give prospects a good initial idea of what they can receive in return for creating jobs and investing in the community, according to an economic development consulting firm.The Garner Economics report released in 2014 recommended that local governments create a uniform policy linking incentives to economic impact and return on investment to the community.
