Southport/Oak Island Animal Shelter hopes to stay open

On a dirt road in Oak Island is the Southport/Oak Island Animal Rescue. Also known as SOAR, this no kill shelter takes in cats and dogs in any condition. The animals are placed with the hope they will be adopted, but if they aren’t, SOAR will be their forever home.
