Early college high schools honored

Commissioner Barfield’s travel spending drops significantly

The latest numbers for commissioner travel are in, and the year-over-year total for one New Hanover County Commissioners has dropped considerably.During the 2015 fiscal year, Commission Chairman Jonathan Barfield spent $7,650 out of the county travel budget. Man pleads guilty to rape of girl, 11

Alberto Lucero, 45, of Wilmington pleaded guilty Monday to raping an 11-year-old girl in 2014, according to the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office.

Community speaks out as three Bladen County schools face shutdown
