Public hearing set for on-street parking regulations in residential areas of Leland

Leland Town Council is expected to hold a public hearing Thursday for a proposed zoning text amendment that would set requirements for on-street and clustered parking facilities in new subdivisions in the town.

Duke Energy offers tips to save energy even when thermostat is on

As the colder temperatures continue to roll through many people might find themselves turning up the thermostat. However, Duke Energy is offering some tips to save some money in the winter even with the heat turned on. One way is to wash your clothes in cold water. Duke Energy said 90 percent of energy used by washing machines is used to heat the water, but most clothes don’t require hot water to get a good cleaning.

Local Girl Scout cookie sales ‘going gangbusters’

Whether its the peanut butter patties, thanks-a-lot or thin mints, Girl Scout cookies in Wilmington are selling fast. Since they went on sale Saturday, 47 out of 90 troops have had to order more cookies.
