Son: ‘Savages stole from my mother’ after she was hit and killed by SUV

Family members of a woman hit and killed in an accident in Wilmington are frustrated and angry. Virginia Sorbino, 53, died on May 6, when a driver lost control of his SUV, and hit her at the intersection of Dawson and Tenth Streets. Her son believes someone took his mother’s purse from the scene and used the keys to later break in to her apartment.

First at Four: Local physician honored for his pioneering work to help diabetic patients

A local doctor will be recognized for his work to care for those with Type 1 diabetes. Paul C. Whitesides, Jr., M.D., will be presented the JDRF Coastal Carolina Branch’s 2016 Living and Giving Award at the 2016 Hope Gala. He joined us Friday on WECT News First at Four to talk about his work and the future of diabetes care.
