First at Four: Local physician to be honored for his pioneering work to help diabetic patients

A local doctor will be recognized for his work to care for those with Type 1 diabetes. Paul C. Whitesides, Jr., M.D., will be presented the JDRF Coastal Carolina Branch’s 2016 Living and Giving Award at the 2016 Hope Gala. He will join us Friday on WECT News First at Four to talk about his work and the future of diabetes care.

5th graders host their own live morning show

An elementary school in Pender County is walking in WECT News’ footsteps by to hosting its own morning show. Cape Fear Elementary School has been hosting its own live morning broadcast for the past 11 years. Chris Wirszyla originally ran the morning show by himself but said three years ago he opened it up to the students.
