BSL lifts swimming advisory for Mirror Lake

The City of Boiling Spring Lakes lifted a swimming advisory Friday for Mirror Lake, after it exceeded standard levels of two types of bacteria last month.

Lowe’s Home Improvement donates greenhouse, gardening supplies to Brigade Boys and Girls Club

Dozens of Lowe’s Home Improvement employees are working to spruce up the gardens at the Wilmington Brigade Boys and Girls Club. The Lowe’s store across from UNCW’s campus donated over $3,000 in supplies and a whole day’s work to build a 128-square-foot greenhouse and about 20 raised garden beds.

Historic Wilmington hospital could close

Some big changes could be in store for a Wilmington landmark. New Hanover Regional Medical Center has plans to modernize its orthopedic facilities, and hopes to transfer operations away from the historic Cape Fear Memorial Hospital campus on Wrightsville Avenue.
