Commissioners dispute reason for H2GO rate decrease

H2GO officials announced Wednesday they decreased water and sewer rates for customers in Leland effective Aug. 1. The water authority attributed the ability to decrease the rates to the controversial $30 million reverse osmosis plant that their Board of Commissioners decided to move forward with in June. The plant, which will be operational in 2019, will allow them to generate their own water so they don’t have to buy it wholesale from Brunswick County Public Utilities. Many reside…

Leland police searching for suspects accused of using stolen debit card

Detectives with the Leland Police Department need help identifying four men suspected of using a stolen debit card to make purchases at Food Lion. According to police, the incident took place on July 15 at the Food Lion on Reed Road. Police believe the suspects left in a white Cadillac Deville, possibly a 2004 model.
