Governor’s Crime Commission awards nearly $800,000 for public safety programs

Governor Pat McCrory announced Thursday close to $70 million in grant funding to address issues related to human trafficking, gangs, veterans rights and safer communities and schools through programs administered by the Governor’s Crime Commission.

Commissioner Goodwin announces $3.6 Million BCBSNC fine

Raleigh – Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin fined Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina $3.6 million as part of a Voluntary Settlement Agreement today. The agreement was signed by Commissioner Goodwin this afternoon. Since January, The North Carolina Department of Insurance has received numerous complaints from BCBSNC customers. Julia a tropical storm again; minor impact locally

In a rare move, the National Hurricane Center elected to recognize the formation of a tropical storm over land late Tuesday. Tropical Storm Julia formed near St. Augustine, Florida, and your First Alert Weather Team will be monitoring it closely this week.
