Police to play in benefit game

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017

The Brunswick County and New Hanover County sheriff’s offices are going to court. On March 10, the two departments will play in the second annual Relay for Life charity basketball game at South Brunswick High School.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled to start at 6:15. Fans are encouraged to give a $5 donation at the door. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Copyright 2017 WECT. All rights reserved.

NHC Board of Education members tour new projects

New Hanover County’s Board of Education members got a behind-the-scenes look at projects years in the making on Tuesday. The projects toured were funded by the 2014 bond for $160 million for school improvements. Members began their tour at the brand new Porter’s Neck Elementary School, which Superintendent Dr. Tim Markley said was critical because of growth in the county. Dog mauled to death in own backyard
