Soup kitchen owner looking for new home to serve community

Jeannette Lopez has worked for eight years helping others in need, but now she says her soup kitchen is in trouble. Lopez operates Mama-J’s Helping Hands, which she started out of her home seven years ago. Emergency crews respond to head-on collision

Emergency crews responded to reports of a head-on crash in Brunswick County on Tuesday. According to officials, the collision occurred on Highway 87 in Brunswick County about a mile southeast of Winnabow around 5:30 p.m.

Bus driver arrested on child abuse charges

A Columbus County bus driver was arrested Monday for assaulting a minor. Shantel Kemp, 36, is charged with misdemeanor child abuse, inflicting serious injury for an alleged incident that happened on Feb. 22.

UNCW students react to Carolina win

Stanley gearing up for Alt-Zalea Fest

The Alt-Zalea Fest bills itself as "a sort of alternative to the craziness of downtown" during Wilmington’s Azalea Festival. Delia Stanley is one of the artists scheduled to perform at Alt-Zalea on Saturday in the Brooklyn Arts District, but before that, she visited the WECT studios for a First at Four performance on Tuesday.
