Man arrested in Columbus Co. after death of Myrtle Beach woman

According to a Tuesday night news release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Rayford Hunt Jr. is in the Columbus County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond after being charged with concealing/failure to report the death of a person.

Crews treat roads in preparation for winter weather

Pender Commissioners ask lawmakers to delay K-3 class size reduction

Pender County Commissioners have gone on record asking state lawmakers to delay reducing class sizes in elementary schools. Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night on a resolution asking the General Assembly to delay implementing the mandated reduction in K-3 classes for the 2018-19 school year. Driver charged with DWI after deadly New Year’s Day crash

A man from Wilmington is charged in a deadly crash that happened on New Year’s Day. Trooper J. Ballard of the Highway Patrol says Steven Derengowski, 25, is charged with Driving While Impaired after the crash that happened around 8:45 p.m. Monday night on River Road in New Hanover County. Teenager last seen Dec. 27 reported missing

Megan Batson, 16, was last seen on Dec. 27 in the 1700 block of 41st Street in Wilmington, according to a Wilmington Police Department tweet sent around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
