Chadbourn wins grant for water and sewer improvements

The town of Chadbourn has won a grant to pay for most of a water and sewer line improvement project. According to Interim Town Manager Pat Garrell, the USDA has awarded the town a total of $3,028,000 for the project.  The majority of the work is taking place on Brown St. in Chadbourn, which is a heavily traveled area in the summer. Project manager Logan Parsons said the contractor will be off the street by April 1st to make sure there are no detours for vacationers. Chadbourn officers turn in letter to town council in support of a different police chief

At a closed town council meeting Tuesday night, suspended Police Chief Rene Trevino said members of the Chadbourn Police Department turned in a signed letter to town council members. The letter was signed by about half the police department, and supported another member of the police force for chief. Trevino said he has no plans to resign his position at this time. Autopsy reveals man killed in officer-involved shooting was severely impaired
