FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) — Volunteers are planning to resume the search for a Fort Bragg soldier missing for six weeks.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that the Community Volunteer Search Group says it plans to search for Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was last seen April 14 at Froggy Bottoms, where she had gone the night before to sing karaoke.

Police believe Bordeaux left the bar with a man identified as a registered sex offender and who she she met there the week before. The man says he dropped her off at the entrance to the apartment complex where she lived with her husband, who was in Florida visiting family that weekend. The man said he had nothing to do with Bordeaux’s disappearance.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Subtropical Storm Beryl formed Friday night, making the storm the second in a Hurricane Season that hasn’t officially started yet.

As of late Saturday morning, the storm is moving west-southwest at 9 mph and has sustained winds of 45 mph. Beryl is expected to continue on a path into Georgia and Florida through Monday. However, southeastern North Carolina will still feel some indirect effects, including an increase in the chance for spotty showers throughout the weekend (some heavy) as well as a high risk for rip currents and unfavorable boating conditions in offshore waters.

Dangerous rip currents are perhaps the main concern. With the crowded beaches this weekend, make sure you heed warnings of lifeguards at all times.

There are currently no watches/warnings in effect for our area. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for parts of Georgia and Florida. A Tropical Storm Watch is in place for parts of the SC coast.

• Saturday: Partly sunny with a 40% chance of scattered showers/storms. Highs around 80. Gusty winds out of the NE at 15-25 mph. At the coast, seas average 5-8 feet with a high rip current risk.
• Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of storms. Gusty winds out of the E at 15-20 mph. Highs near 80. Rip current risk remains high, with seas of 5-7 feet.
• Memorial Day: Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of storms. Highs in the 80′s. Winds out of the SE at 10-15 mph. Seas and rip current risk remain high.
