New Hanover Board of Elections rescinds voting results certification

The New Hanover County Board of Elections decided in a 2-1 vote to certify the 2016 elections results Thursday morning. But in doing so, they violated state law. The decision came after the board unanimously threw out two protests filed by Jonathan Christian Anderson. According to state law, a certificate of elections results can’t be issued until five days after the protest is dismissed or denied by county board of elections.
