Wilmington officials warn against deadly heroin known as gray death

Bikers preach helmet safety in wake of fatal accident: ‘It might save your life’

Witnesses on the scene of Monday evening’s fatal accident in Wilmington said they did not see bicyclist Megan McClellan, 20, wearing a helmet. Her mother said she bought her one, but that her daughter rarely wore it.

State House approves raise the age bill

May 17th, 2017

The North Carolina House of Representatives voted 104-8 Wednesday to approve a bill that would raise the age of juvenile jurisdiction to 18 for most offenses, marking another step toward the state not charging minors as adults. North Carolina is the only remaining state in the nation that automatically charges all 16- and 17-year-olds as adults, regardless of the crime.
