Travel Resources
There are
basically two ways to get to Wilmington. One is to drive and the other
is to fly. Below is more information on each topic, but here are a
number of links that can help you arrange either type of travel. We
have partnered with a number of sites to offer a balance between
selection of your favorite travel booking site (mine is
Expedia.com)
Expedia.com)
and the best offers. Some of the travel sites listed that you may not
have heard of actually have better rates. We are putting together a
separate section on travel resources, but it isn't complete yet.
For now, here are some of the best booking sites with the best values
for travel to Wilmington or anywhere else for that matter. Also check
out the Accommodations page for more deals on hotels and Bed and Breakfast
Inns. The Restaurants page has a great link to
Restaurant.com ,
which saves you money on dining out. They have a bunch of
participating restaurants in Wilmington so you should definitely take
a look at it.

Car
If I'm driving I
like to take my Jaguar XKR because it makes the trip shorter and a lot
more fun plus it has GPS navigation. But no matter what you drive,
here are the general directions to get to Wilmington.
If you are
coming from the west use U.S. 74/76. From the northwest you can use
I-40, U.S. 117, and U.S. 421. And from the northeast and south use
U.S. 17
When you need to
rent a vehicle, you can use the above general travel reservation site
links or here are a couple of specific car rental sites with good
deals.

Both
Delta and US Airways fly into the Wilmington International Airport,
1740 Airport Blvd. (tel. (910) 341-4125), which is about a half a mile
from the center of town. (And no, I didn't take this photo from the
window of my Gulfstream G550, but if you want to see a picture of it
